Sermon 11.02.25 Kyle Morris

Revive Church

This sermon on Luke 23:1-25 traces Jesus’ trial from the Sanhedrin to Pilate and Herod, revealing both His complete innocence and His willing substitution for the guilty. Though falsely accused, mocked, and beaten, Jesus remains silent and steadfast, fulfilling Isaiah 53 as the Lamb led to slaughter. Pilate and Herod both declare Him innocent, yet the crowd demands His death and the release of Barabbas—the guilty man set free while the sinless Son of God is condemned. This divine exchange becomes the vivid picture of the gospel: the innocent taking the place of the guilty so that sinners might be declared righteous. The message urges believers to see that Jesus’ sacrifice was not forced but chosen—an intentional act of love securing our freedom, acceptance, and unbreakable relationship with God.
